THE SERENGETI
Our Tour Highlights
The Serengeti National Park is one of the most famous and iconic wildlife destinations in the world. Located in Tanzania, this UNESCO World Heritage Site spans over 14,000 square kilometers of diverse landscapes, from vast savannahs to acacia woodlands and riverine forests. It is renowned for its annual Great Migration and exceptional wildlife, offering one of the most thrilling safari experiences on the planet. Here’s our ultimate guide to exploring the Serengeti:
The Great Migration: The Serengeti is best known for the annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest, along with zebras and gazelles, which move in a circular route from the southern Serengeti to the Maasai Mara in Kenya and back. The migration, with dramatic river crossings, is a spectacular sight.
Big Five Safari: The Serengeti is home to Africa’s Big Five: lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos. You can also spot cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and an array of antelopes and birds.
Seronera Valley: One of the most famous areas in the Serengeti, it is teeming with wildlife and offers some of the best opportunities for game viewing.
Ngorongoro Crater: Though technically not part of the Serengeti, this nearby crater is one of the best places to see wildlife in the world. It’s often included in Serengeti safari packages.
Moru Kopjes: These granite outcrops in the southern Serengeti are famous for their incredible wildlife sightings, including cheetahs and lions lounging in the shade, as well as ancient Maasai rock paintings.
Serengeti Ecosystem: The park is part of a larger ecosystem that includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Maasai Mara, providing excellent opportunities for safaris and wildlife exploration.
